Prisoners Under Glass CoverScroll Press is a literary press that publishes collections of short stories, novels, and literary essays, including travel writing. We invite submissions from new and established authors. Our first release, R. Patrick's Prisoner's Under Glass, was published on September 30th, 2005. This is a magical novel for young and adult readers alike:
Rachel Windover is in Venice with her parents. She’s supposed to be on vacation. So far the airline has lost her luggage, she has fallen out of a gondola in the middle of a scenic cruise, and now she has this churning sensation in the pit of her stomach; it’s the feeling she gets when something is about to go really wrong. They should never have gone into that souvenir shop. Then her father wouldn’t have gone all glassy eyed and goofy after meeting Lilah, the hauntingly beautiful owner. He wouldn’t have ordered dozens of her strange souvenirs for his shop back home, and Rachel’s mother wouldn’t have disappeared. Now Rachel must deal with the horrible secret inside one of the souvenirs. It is a secret that forces her to embark on a journey that will take her and her best friend Sam halfway around the world and under it, into a realm swarming with sea witches and dark magic. But there’s an even deeper magic waiting in the caverns beneath the sea. It could bring her powers she never imagined. It could bring back her mother. It could restore all the prisoners under glass. All she has to do is survive.
